Our People
Aupec’s diverse network of independent specialists represents a scope of expertise that is truly unique in global terms. Our highly experienced consultants hail from industry, academic and government backgrounds and have an in-depth understanding of the issues facing governments and companies as they strive for economic growth. Our economic experts regularly advise governments worldwide on such matters as the negotiation of complex production sharing contracts, the establishment or reform of regulatory bodies and how to manage, regulate and audit the flow of oil revenues. Our business and process benchmarking specialists help international companies shape their business strategies by providing senior management with fact-based evidence on performance of traditionally ‘non-transparent’ areas such as IT, Facilities Maintenance and Supply Chain Management. This activity is supported by Aupec’s range of groundbreaking benchmarking products.

Our History
Aupec was established in 1986 to commercialise the accumulated skills of members of the University of Aberdeen’s Department of Economics. As leading experts in the economic and financial analysis of investment in energy industry exploration and production, the new Aupec consultants developed groundbreaking computerised modelling techniques to examine risk and reward sharing between governments and energy companies.
Early projects supported government agencies in making informed policy and technical economic decisions, and also helped service sector companies forecast and predict future trends in the global petroleum market. Our areas of operation ranged from newly prospective regions such as the Falkland Islands, to mature petroleum provinces such as Alaska, and soon expanded into Australia, Africa, Azerbaijan, the Far East, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Venezuela.
Aupec’s increasing international profile as an independent adviser brought further exciting opportunities during the 1990s, including the invitation by UK North Sea oil companies to provide Upstream comparative benchmarking of IT services. This study led to Aupec becoming a specialist in the provision of IT Benchmarking services to all divisions of the Oil and Gas industry.
Today, as a private company based in Europe’s energy capital, Aberdeen, Scotland, we continue to expand our areas of expertise, reinforcing our position as a world-class provider of economic and benchmarking products and services to all segments of industry, commerce and the public sector.
