Integrated Oil and Gas Company IT Benchmark

The Integrated Oil and Gas Company IT Benchmark is aimed at the Integrated Oil and Gas Company CIO and is a management tool that assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services for all major elements of their business - that is, upstream operations, downstream operations, petrochemicals, other major businesses such as gas and power and renewable energy and for all major corporate services, for example HR, Legal or Finance.

It benefits clients by providing indicators of how efficient or effective their IT organisation is in the service areas of applications software, applications hosting, desktop services and networks and communications. This is achieved through accurate comparisons with other integrated oil and gas companies of similar size and complexity. Clients receive reports that provide recommendations on how you can further improve your economic performance. In turn this provides opportunities for improving productivity or reducing costs.

Aupec's benchmarking reports provide clients with reliable and robust metrics based on high quality, up-to-date data collected from unique industry peer groups. Reports are customised to the client's requirements.

Integrated Oil and Gas Company IT Benchmark will allow the CEO/CIO to:

  • Obtain a complete enterprise level view of your IT spending compared to your energy sector peers.
  • Understand the effectiveness and efficiency performance of your major operating segments.
  • Focus on IT performance of your corporate services groups - HR, legal, commercial, real estate and tax.
  • Utilise a great tool to assist with your enterprise IT improvement plans.
  • Gain knowledge of your peer company's operational and strategic approaches on applications and infrastructure.

History of Aupec's Super Major IT Assessment

  • In 2003 Aupec successfully carried out a pilot study for four energy Super Majors. The objective of the study was to provide CIO level assessments of IT effectiveness and efficiency performance measures across the entire enterprise.
  • The study included detailed analysis of IT performance for the major operating businesses - upstream oil, downstream oil and petrochemicals.
  • Other significant businesses were also studied - gas and power and renewables as well as the main corporate services.
  • The success of Aupec's Super Major IT Assessment led to further enquiries from integrated oil companies to make use of the same benchmarking model and database of performance results.
  • Flexible online benchmarking methodologies allow Aupec to quickly set-up data capture and analysis systems to fit any shape of energy business.
