Aupec are launching a new series of economics training programs beginning with a 2-day course on 'Negotiating International Petroleum Agreements' in September 2005.
The course is ideally suited to those requiring an introduction into negotiation of international petroleum agreements or those who require a fundamental grounding in petroleum economics.
Overall Training Program Objectives
The training program is designed for those involved in or requiring an understanding of the negotiation of international petroleum agreements or those requiring an introduction to petroleum economics. Topics covered in the program include a review of world petroleum economic fundamentals, international fiscal systems design and their economic impacts, investment and economic risk appraisal techniques and the non-fiscal aspects of international petroleum agreements. The focus is on a practical examination of the decision-making process from the perspective of both the international exploration company and the host Government.
The learning approach is a balance of formal lectures and team participation in a unique negotiation role-play business game. The business game comprises of the negotiation of key economic terms of an offshore petroleum exploration contract between an international exploration company and a host government of an emerging petroleum prospective country. The role-play - which takes up the second day of the training program - has been highly rated by MBA students who have experienced this module in their course work at the University of Aberdeen.
